MOSCOW: Russia has learnt how to minimise the impact of sanctions, the Kremlin said on Thursday, after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the United States would not be renewing a waiver that allowed people to buy some Russian oil without facing U.S. sanctions.
The U.S. Treasury Department had allowed purchases of Russian oil and products at sea since mid-March with a 30-day waiver that expired on April 11, part of an effort to control global energy prices during the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
Bessent said on Wednesday that the waiver would not be renewed.
