Former UMNO President Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has attributed UMNO’s success in developing Malaysia to the strength within the party and not due to its leaders alone.

“I agree that UMNO as a party had developed the nation, not its leaders only,” Dr Mahathir said adding that he himself had never taken sole credit for the party’s success.

“Don’t take credit for it as if it were your (leaders) own successes,” the former Prime Minister said when asked to comment on UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s policy speech at the Putra World Trade Center on Thursday.

Dr Mahathir attended the meeting accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
