KUALA LUMPUR:Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Perak has so far not received an order to appear before the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah on the issue of the appointment of the state Menteri Besar.

Chairman of the Perak Bersatu Leadership Body, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the party’s leadership in the state has also not been summoned to the palace officially.

Ahmad Faizal, who is also the former Perak Menteri Besar, said this in a two-paragraph statement distributed to the media on Tuesday.

Ahmad Faizal resigned as the 13th Menteri Besar of Perak after failing to get the support of the majority in the motion of confidence in his leadership in the state assembly sitting (DUN) on December 4.

Apart from Bersatu, its ally, PAS also informed that it will not appear before the Sultan of Perak as it did not have any decision to present to His Highness.

The issue of the appointment of the Menteri Besar of Perak has not yet shown signs of subsiding as none of the political parties have a simple majority to form the state government.

UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had earlier today said UMNO was optimistic that the new Perak Menteri Besar candidate from the party had the majority support.

Ahmad Zahid went further to say he was confident that the support garnered was “more than enough”.

However, it turned out that no political parties had a simple majority, let alone a convincing one.

Perak Dewan Negara member, Datuk Seri Annuar Zaini said the situation thus failed to convince the Sultan of Perak to appoint the 14th Menteri Besar.
