UMNO veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah on Saturday confirmed that he has no intention of replacing Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) advisor.

Tengku Razaleigh or fondly known as Ku Li said there is no provision in the law that states the advisor of the petroleum company must be appointed among former leaders.

“As far as I’m concerned, there is a provision in Petroleum Development Act to establish a petroleum advisory council, which consist of senior government officials, oil experts, and representatives from oil producing states.

"That, is an advisory body that will advice the government regarding oil and mines policy,” he told reporters on Saturday.

The Gua Musang MP was among the leaders that has been seen to be filling Dr Mahathir’s position in Petronas, after the latter was terminated from the position on Friday.
