KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has denied the information from the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) meeting on March 4, 2021 disseminated via WhatsApp and Facebook applications.
Bersatu Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, said all the information contained in the messages spread were untrue and false.
Apart from that, the Larut Member of Parliament said that the information disseminated had nothing to do with any MPT meetings that had taken place.
"In this regard, Bersatu will lodge a police report against the spread of the false news to track down the mastermind behind its dissemination and will not hesitate to use all available legislation to protect the interests of the party and Bersatu members," he said in a statement on Saturday.
Among the contents of the message that was spread yesterday was that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has asked the Bersatu division heads to prepare for the General Election (GE) between June and July this year.
In addition, it claimed, there would be harsher charges against UMNO senior leaders, and would be used as ‘negotiations’ to soften the party.
The messages spread also claimed that a special team would be set up to persuade UMNO to stay with Bersatu and the Perikatan Nasional ahead of the next GE.
