The letter by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who cautioned Opposition leaders to be wary of their involvement with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's Citizen’s Declaration was only based on the latter's observation, said Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
The UMNO veteran was commenting on the eight-page letter by Anwar, including the notion that Dr Mahathir is now 'more opposition than the opposition'.
"It is Anwar's observation... others may not agree with him," he said during a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
Tengku Razaleigh said that Dr Mahathir has his own objective.
"We know what his objectives are. So he will try to highlight them in order to achieve the objectives and he seems determined to fight what he stood for," said Tengku Razaleigh.
The eight-page letter hand-written by Anwar from the Sungai Buloh prison was first published on Penang PKR Youth's Facebook page.
Anwar in his letter had also warned PKR leaders to not become too involved with the movement.
According to Malaysiakini, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli in his reaction to the letter, said the letter arrived just in time.
He said the letter reminded party leaders that there is no shortcut in defeating Barisan Nasional.
