Sabah state agencies have issued a warning alert for floods and landslides due to the bad weather which hit the west coast of the state.

Its Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman, said all relevant agencies must monitor the situation from time to time and be prepared for any emergency alert, as reported by The Star online.

He also reminded the people to remain cautious of the current weather condition.

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue until late today as the Typhoon Vongfong continues to hit the South China Sea, east of the Philippines.

The tail effect of the storm and low pressure area in northern Kudat are triggering the downpours, said a spokesman from the meteorological department.

The spokesman added that heavy rain fall would likely continue until Sunday.

Sabah has been experiencing  heavy rain since last week, causing severe floods in Penampang.

Other affected areas include Tuaran, Kota Belud, part of Kota Kinabalu, Beaufort, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang and northern Kudat.
