The surau in the Tanjung Sutera Resort which was made into a Buddhist ritual hall will most likely be demolished after investigations are completed.

Apart from being demolished, the Johor fatwa council will also hold a meeting to decide the appropriate action to be taken against the resort owner.

The Kota Tinggi District Council has also issued a notice prohibiting the usage of the surau within a period of 14 days effective since 2.00 pm on Tuesday.

Johor Religious Council adviser Datuk Noh Gadut said the surau, was not built with the approval of the Johor Religious Department.

He said the Johor Religious Department will take over the case after the police are done with their investigations.

"There is a very strong possibility that the building, which was not built according to specifications, will be demolished," he told reporters during a press conference at his office at the Iskandar Islamic Centre.

Earlier, Noh had sought audience with the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar at Istana Pasir Pelangi.

Meanwhile, Johor police had received six reports regarding the case.

Johor state police chief, Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Shariff said that a special team led by his deputy Datuk Ismail Yatim will investigate the reports.

They had also asked the people especially blogsite owners to stop speculating the issue.
