Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has officially withdrawn his candidacy for the PKR presidency, enabling his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to win the post uncontested.
It was confirmed on April 11, that Anwar was to contest against Wan Azizah for the party’s presidential post during the upcoming PKR election in May.
This was confirmed by PKR’s Director of the Central Election Committee, Datuk Johari Abdul at a media conference held at PKR headquarters on April 11.
Wan Azizah who held the position for the last 15 years was to compete against Anwar who is currently awaiting his appeal in the Federal Court.
