KUALA LUMPUR:Pas has expressed its full support for the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Its secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan in a statement late Monday said the stand was to ensure security, economic life and peace of the country and the people was always safeguarded.
“Pas expresses its undivided loyalty to the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, thus reaffirming the support of all 18 PAS MPs together with the concerned PN government and acting to ensure the security of economic life and the peace of the country and the people,” he said.
He also called on Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs to remain steadfast in defending Muhyiddin's leadership and the PN government.
"At the same time, PAS calls on all fellow BN MPs to continue to stand firm in defending the leadership of the Prime Minister and the PN government built together over the collapse of Pakatan Harapan," Takiyuddin said in a statement.
Takiyuddin said his party was grateful to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for His Majesty’s cooperation with the government in an effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.
"Let us all Malaysians pray and ask for continuous protection from God so that the COVID-19 epidemic is eradicated immediately and our country returns safe, peaceful and united," he said.
Previously, the UMNO Supreme Council Meeting which took place on Monday decided to continue to support the PN government led by Muhyiddin.
UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a statement said UMNO also maintained its previous decision of establishing cooperation without PKR and DAP.
