The entrepreneurship sector will be a key focus of the government in Budget 2015 to be tabled in Parliament on Oct 10, Finance Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah said.
He said the ministry is considering ways to provide business space, especially for Bumiputera entrepreneurs, at new and existing commercial buildings such as those in Putrajaya and Klia2.
"We are in active discussion with the focus groups, with entrepreneurship being a key area of attention," he added, after launching the Entrepreneurs 360 (Er360) programme on June 19.
The Er360 is a joint collaboration between the Women Entrepreneur Network (WENA), New Entrepreneurs Foundation, as well as the Malaysian Association of Bumiputera ICT Industry and Entrepreneurs.
It is where entrepreneurs come to learn and get onsite, immediate help, with their business concerns.
Mohd Irwan Siregar said the ministry has done a lot of work to help aspiring entrepreneurs build their businesses through funds and training.
He said it was also willing to work more closely with them to make Malaysia a conducive environment for business.
"A healthy level of entrepreneurship in the country is a great thing for the government," he added.
Meanwhile, WENA president Nadira Yusoff said the group will continue to promote gender equality, inclusivity and empowerment of women in handling enterprise at the grassroots.
"We will also strengthen enterprise learning through intra and inter relations with government bodies, research centres and tertiary institutions," she added.
At the event, WENA also inked a memorandum of understanding with the World Association of Visioneers and Entreprenologists on mentoring women in global businesses.
The signing was witnessed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) chairman Datuk Noraini Ahmad.
