IRANIAN Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that the recent truce plan proposed by the United States contains "excessive, unrealistic and unreasonable" demands.
At a weekly press conference in Tehran, Baghaei stressed that Iran's stance has been clear from the beginning, and the country has had no direct negotiation with the United States.
"The materials that have been conveyed to us under various titles such as the '15-point plan' mainly include very excessive, unrealistic, and unreasonable demands. The meeting that Pakistan held with its neighboring countries is a framework that they established themselves. We did not participate in this framework. It's a blessed thing that countries in the region are concerned about peace and security. Our stance has been clear. Once we reach a conclusion, we will announce it in an appropriate way, because we have confidence in ourselves, and we know what we want," Baghaei said.
When asked if Iran has a political solution to end the war, Baghaei said the U.S. and Israel have intensified attacks against Iran, attempting to cripple its scientific foundation and cultural heritage, so Iran has to focus on defending itself.
Iran's pursuit for ending the war is clear, he said, adding a decision will be made based on the leadership's opinion if necessary.
On Feb 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran has responded by launching waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran has never regarded its neighbors as enemies, and as the country has stated repeatedly, its operations only target U.S. military bases in the region.
The U.S. and Israel have been using these bases to attack Iran, which violates international law, Baghaei emphasized, calling on neighboring countries to forbid attacks against Iran from their territories.
Referring to the mass "No Kings" rallies across the U.S., Baghaei said there has been an industry where those who benefit from wars waged by the U.S. attempt to justify them to gain public approval, but these protests indicate this doesn't work anymore.
Americans see no reason to start a war against Iran, and they know the war will plunge the U.S. into a predicament, he said.
Israel and the United States launched waves of airstrikes from Sunday night to Monday noon, with explosions heard across Iran, including in Tabriz and Zanjan in western Iran, and in Kish and Shiraz in the south.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had launched the 87th wave of Operation True Promise 4 on Monday. The IRGC has released a video about the operation, saying it had targeted U.S. and Israeli military sites with missiles and drones.
