JAKARTA:Indonesia today reported its highest tally of daily COVID-19 cases since the pandemic hit the country in March last year after recording 8,854 new infections overnight.
This brings its infection tally to 788,402 cases with 70,029 patients under surveillance for the virus.
Based on data posted on the official Twitter page of the Indonesian National Disaster Management Authority @BNPB_Indonesia today, another 187 fatalities were also reported in the last 24 hours, taking the country's death toll to 23,296 people.
Jakarta remains the province with the highest number of cases with 193,301 infections so far, 2,402 of them reported overnight.
East Java, meanwhile, has the highest number of fatalities with 6,173 deaths, including 54 more in the last 24 hours.
