COVID-19: Indonesia again records over 3,000 new cases

Indonesia has again recorded more than 3,000 COVID-19 new positive cases within 24 hours.

Based on its government's official website on COVID-19 at www.covid19.go.id today, 3,075 new positive cases were reported during that period, bringing the total number to 180,646.

The highest number of cases in a day was recorded last Saturday at 3,308 before it dropped to less than 3,000 yesterday.

Between noon yesterday and noon today, 111 more deaths occurred, bringing the tally to 7,616.

Jakarta has recorded the highest number of new positive cases at 1,054, with the total number reaching 42,041, the highest, followed by East Java with 34,278 cases and the other provinces.

East Java has the highest total number of fatalities at 2,425 followed by Jakarta (1,231) and the other 32 provinces.

Yesterday, the Malaysian government announced the entry restriction on long-term pass holders from India, Indonesia and the Philippines, starting Sept 7, to curb the spread of the viral infection following the spike in cases in these countries.
