World Team: The national women's squash team failed to make it to the final

The national women's squash team failed to make it to the final of the Women's World Team Championship after losing 1-2 to England in a semi-final match late Friday in France.

World Number One Datuk Nicol David gave Malaysia a perfect start when she beat England's Laura Massaro in three sets 11-5, 11-6 and 11-8 in the tournament held at the La Parnasse Arena glass court in Nimes, according to the tournament website, www.squashsite.co.uk.

England equalised through Jenny Duncalf, who defeated Delia Arnold of Malaysia 11-7, 11-9 and 11-9.
Low Wee Wern put up a strong fight against England's Alison Water before going down 6-11, 11-7, 9-11 and 5-11.

Malaysia's best achievement in the biennial tournament was a third placing in the last three editions, in 2006 ,2008 and 2010.

With the win, England, who last won the tournament in 2006, will meet the 2008 champion Egypt in the final on Sunday.

Egypt beat defending champion Australia 3-0 in the other semi-final match.
