Perak, SPAD working together to provide conducive public transportation

The Perak government and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) are working together to provide a long-term comprehensive development plan for public transportation system in the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir the plan, which would be completed by 2014, would provide a conducive transportation plan for the next 20 years.

Initially, SPAD would carry out a pilot transportation project in three districts, namely Manjung, Perak Tengah and Ipoh, and evaluate its effectiveness, he told reporters during his visit to the new Ipoh bus terminal known as the Amanjaya Terminal in Meru Raya here Wednesday.

He said the commissioning of the Amanjaya Terminal, which started operation on Sept 25 last year, marked the beginning of the state government's seriousness in developing an integrated public transportation system with the cooperation of the private sector.
