Mediation efforts over the civil suit brought by former chairman of National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFCorp) Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail against PKR strategic director Mohd Rafizi Ramli and Malaysiakini has failed.

Wan Shahrizal Wan Ladin, the counsel for Salleh declined to give details when approached by reporters at the mediation centre of Kuala Lumpur Court here.

Asked by reporters about the mediation, Ng Siau Sun, the counsel for Rafizi said: "Proposals from both parties did not match."

Ng said the case management would be conducted before Judge Datuk John Louis O'Hara tomorrow.

Today, Salleh and Rafizi met with Judge Zainal L. Saleh to update him on the mediation efforts.

On June 3 last year, Salleh and NFCorp filed a civil suit against Rafizi, the Member of Parliament for Pandan, and Mkini Dotcom Sdn Bhd, the owner of the news portal Malaysiakini.

In his statement of claim, Salleh said on March 7, 2012, Rafizi made a defamatory statement regarding the purchase of KL Eco City properties and was published by Malaysiakini on the same day.

The defamatory statement in connection with a loan was made at a press conference at PKR headquarters.

He said the suit was filed because of losses incurred due to the lies, misleading information, disclosure of confidential banking information and slander made by the defendants.

Salleh is seeking general damages, exemplary and aggravated damages, interests, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.

He is also seeking an injunction to prevent the defendants from continuing to mislead and deceive the public on the loan issue.
