The Health Ministry has set high benchmarks for flood disaster management and is more than capable of handling the flood situation in Kelantan, said Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the benchmarks were arrived at through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the aftermath of the major flood disaster in the state in 2014.
"From the feedback obatined and surveys done today, all hospital and clinics in this state had taken contingency measures to face the monsoon season and no major damage has been reported," he told Bernama after receiving a briefing on the current situation in the wake of the latest flood disaster in the state at the Tengku Anis Hospital here today.
Dr Noor Hisham said damage involving facilities and medicine stocks at hospitals, health clinics and rural health clinics in the four waves of flooding in Kelantan in 2014 resulted in losses of RM1.8 million.
He said most of the damage this time around happened in hospitals and clinics in locations that were not at high risk of floods like the Tengku Anis and Pasir Mas Hospitals.
