KUALA LUMPUR: Caretaker Minister of Rural Development Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid lost to Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Ustaz Nurul Amin with a majority of 10,959 votes in Padang Terap.

The UMNO vice president only received 17,258 votes compared to Nurul Amin who got 28,217 votes.

Two other contenders Muaz Abdullah (PH - 2,702 votes) and Razali Salleh (Pejuang - 452) lost their deposits.
