A shootout on Wednesday between two families in a dispute over land left seven dead in eastern Turkey, a provincial governor told local television.

The deadly confrontation broke out in rural Mus province, a Kurdish area of the country, governor Vedat Buyuksersoy told Turkey's NTV channel.

"Seven people were killed in the shooting," he said. The two families had been rivals for years, he added.
