If you're one of Katy Perry's 89 million Twitter fans and saw strange and offensive tweets Monday night, it's because the account was temporarily hacked.

The singer boasts one of the biggest followings on Twitter.

The tweets, which used foul and racist language, were accompanied by the hashtag #HackersGonnaHack and spotted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Perry managed to regain control of the account and all offending tweets erased.
