Government-linked companies (GLCs) need to take steps to make prudent investments in strategic sectors in order to stimulate the country's economic growth, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
The prime minister said the government would ensure that the country's economic growth would remain strong, sustainable and people-centric as he believed the country could meet the current economic challenges.
"In order to get feedbacks and wide-ranging suggestions from various groups and segments of the society, I had held discussions with representatives of consumer associations and GLCs this morning.
"There were suggestions and feedbacks that were highlighted and discussed. The Finance Ministry and I will fairly consider these proposals," he said in his latest post on NajibRazak.com.
Najib, who is also finance minister, said prompted by falling oil prices, now below US$30 a barrel, and weakening commodity prices, the global economic condition would become more challenging, prompting many countries to revise their economic growth.
"Malaysia is not immune from the current economic challenges as it had affected the national income and as you know, I will be presenting the recalibrated Budget 2016 on Jan 28," he said.
